A "vintage" hotel set on a golf course. Unfortunately the upgrades to add the health club have also become "vintage". I guess we were expecting a bit more luxury for a healthy spa hotel. I would say it's more a day to day health club with gym and golf for locals. Food was ok. Bed was quite firm for us. But the room was a good size and the staff were nice. I wouldn't recommend staying here but we are happy for the night away. Buffet full English breakfast was excellent👌

Had afternoon tea today and unfortunately I have a mixed review. The one bad thing in this beautiful Manor house was that afternoon tea was served in a very run down canteen! Literally the fake leather was peeling off ALL the chairs! I seen better decor in a greasy spoon. Katie was our waitress and she was amazing and the food was lovely, The scones were warm and delicious with Essex jam. The sandwiches were fresh and cakes yummy. But less Bridgerton and more Harlow Cafe.

Food menu changes and can be very limited. Old part of the building rooms are old style. New side rooms are good but maintainance of taps sinks could be better

The Manor of Groves in High Wych certainly sets the scene for a delightful afternoon tea. The building and location are truly stunning, creating an air of elegance and grandeur. However, I was left somewhat disappointed by the service, which unfortunately fell short of expectations.
While the sandwiches were freshly made and the cakes flavourful, the scones were overcooked and dry. This was a real shame, as good scones are the cornerstone of a memorable afternoon tea. To compound the issue, we found it difficult to attract the attention of staff when we wanted to order more drinks, or indeed, to request some fresh scones. For a special occasion like a birthday treat, this lack of attentiveness was a bit of a downer.
Overall, the Manor of Groves offers a beautiful setting for afternoon tea, but the experience was marred by dry scones and inattentive service. With a little more focus on these areas, it could truly live up to its potential.

I was gifted an afternoon tea, sadly this was not the best of experiences, we were shown to a table in what I would describe as a sort of large cloak room. I had to ask for the cups to be changed as both were dirty. I was given a pot of tea. The food was ok , sandwich fingers , scones and small cakes . It went downhill further when a large amount of guests arrived for a function , and as mentioned it was a cloakroom area . Not only were we walked past by at least 50 people hanging up their coats they were quite loud and it felt like we were totally disregarded . At this point we were completed ignored by staff. I did ask for some more tea and was given the same teabags with a top up of hot water which made the tea very weak. I don’t think I would recommend this as was left quite disappointed by the experience.

Upon arriving hotel looked lovely outside and the drive up to the hotel was really nice as well. The hotel inside was unfortunately very disappointing the rooms are quite dated which is not a major issue if everything else compensates for it which it did not. The room ceiling had all stains on the it from a previous leak and the room smelt awful when we went in, there was also no hot water.
When we went down for dinner we said to the receptionist that there was no hot water and all they done was apologise. Dinner was ok the same as breakfast but the actual brassiere where you eat the leather on the chairs was all coming off and just did not look appealing.
Upon complaing on departure again they did deduct £25.00 from our bill. We were debating on going home and not staying at all after seeing the room and agreed that a premier inn was alot better and cheaper than this hotel.

The room was clean, the pool was amazing, the steamroom was really powerful and rejuvenating. The breakfast was lovely and we even got vegetarian sausages upon request.
Only two small things that were surprising no hand wash in the bathroom and no tissue box in the room.
Staff were lovely and friendly. Gave us a heater as our room was initially a bit cold.

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel, and a big part of our experience was thanks to Adam, Mansour, and Chloe. Adam and Mansour were incredibly friendly, always checking to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Chloe, the receptionist, was equally amazing—warm, welcoming, and always ready to assist with a smile. Talking with them was a pleasure, and their helpfulness and professionalism made a lasting impression. They truly added a personal touch to our stay. Thank you, Adam, Mansour, and Chloe, for making our trip so enjoyable!

Attended a work christmas party where we shared the venue with 2 maybe 3 other company's.. 2 bars for drinks between all these people with only 2 staff working on each.. was taking 30+mins to get served.. food came out later then said.. gave a vegetarian a fish dish no meat or fish eaten by the person.. and they had tables cards with names with what your having on too.. overall didn't feel well organised lack of bar staff oh and they ran out of lemonade by I believe 8.30pm.. I got a year to decide if I'm going back next year..

I attend the gym here but have stayed in the hotel too. It’s a lovely country club feeling gym and hotel. Equipment is aged and not looking its best but the place is clean and the classes are really good. It will be very busy in January as all gyms are and difficult to get a class (even when booking 7 days in advance). The pool is clean, but the changing rooms often get dirty from day guests (particularly the men’s I’m told). Recommend bringing flip flops to get to the pool.

Post code took us to the golf club, perhaps put something on the website to direct people? No atmosphere in reception and bar area. Staff scare, under trained and not particularly welcoming.

We booked an afternoon tea here from a buy a gift voucher. I was unsure at first but when we were led into a glass covered area it was lovely.
Sat in front of a large green area overlooking the autumn trees it was so peaceful.
The food was really nice, tea or coffee, a really good selection of sandwiches, scones with cream and jam and a few small cakes, more than enough.
A really enjoyable afternoon in beautiful surroundings.

Stayed recently as part of a golf break with friends. Firstly the positives...
The golf course is well maintained and a good challenge.
The quality of the food we had at breakfast and dinner was excellent.
The rooms were clean and comfortable (maybe a bit tired and need of decoration/refurb)
The service was friendly throughout
Unfortunately there are negatives...
The bar! It isn't a bar! It is part of the foyer of the hotel and has zero atmosphere. It just felt like you were sitting in reception....because you were!
The health club was dirty, smelled damp and needs a major refurb
The restaurant was very busy at breakfast and the service seemed chaotic. No cups/mugs or plates for 10 mins or so.
Overall I think they need to focus on the guests of the hotel not just the wedding/functions that happen in separate suites. Some positives but until it goes under a major refurb and puts a proper bar area in I would not be returning.

We stayed at Manor of Groves Hotel and Spa, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making sure I felt right at home. The hotel itself is set on beautiful grounds, and the combination of historical charm and modern amenities creates a perfect balance.
The room was spacious, clean, and offered stunning views of the gardens. I especially enjoyed the spa facilities — they were top-notch! The treatments were incredibly relaxing, and the indoor pool, sauna, and steam room provided the ultimate retreat for unwinding. The fitness center was also well-equipped for those looking to stay active during their stay.
Dining at the hotel’s restaurant was a highlight as well. The menu featured a variety of delicious options, and every dish I had was beautifully presented and full of flavor. Breakfast was equally enjoyable, with plenty of choices to suit all tastes.
Overall, Manor of Groves is a wonderful getaway spot for anyone looking to relax and recharge in a serene and elegant setting. I can't wait to return for another stay!

Booked through Expedia and more information should be provided regarding health club rules etc. I booked this specifically because it had a pool and my son was looking forward to a swim session before holiday. I could have got other hotels for a lot less and closer to Stansted (where we were flying from) but chose this solely because of the pool. Under 16 only allowed between 3-5:30 and considering I was getting my son from school at 3 and we could only get there for 5 left us with a half hour swim.
Check in was slow. One lady on the phone who didn't even look up to say "won't be a minute" and the other fumbling about with stuff.
Room was ok...in the basement level with a small window high up so not much natural light. Jacuzzi wasn't working either at the pool.
Disappointed.

Water unavailable in some of the rooms we booked.
Nowhere to sit for breakfast.
Having running water is a basic requirement of a hotel room and should be fixed asap.
Moving the breakfast to one of the larger rooms would also give a much better experience, rather than being told to sit in the entrance lobby or take my breakfast up to my room.

Having previously stayed and dined at the Manor of Groves, I wasn't left overly impressed. The dealbreaker for me was when I re-visited for a special occasion with Afternoon Tea.
The experience was very disappointing - at first we were sat in front of a nice garden, however this was overlooked by a VERY dirty pillar that was right in front of us as we ate. The wait times in general were long, having to ask when our tea was coming after being given no options of what they had available, as well as the staff having disappeared for around 20 minutes at a time.
As for the food, the scones were the best bit. With both the sandwiches and the deserts tasting a bit 'funny'.
The most concerning part was when we asked to take some scones away. We had asked one server for a box... 10 minutes later, no box. And when we asked another, they made us aware that if we wanted to take any wood away, we would have to sign a waiver. I have never had to sign any waiver from any hotel nor restaurant before, and was hesitant to do so since it all tasted a little weird.
It is a shame, because with some renovations and staff training, this could be a lovely place. Until then, I would avoid.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, quite impressed. The rooms were quite spacious and so was the bathroom, which was quite modernised. The surrounding area and views were amazing, if we had more time we would've liked to have taken it all in.
